Bordered by France and Spain in the eastern Pyrenees, Andorra is a principality in Western Europe, also known as the Principality of the Valleys to give an indication of its natural beauty. With a population below 100,000 people, it is nevertheless a wealthy country due to its status as a tax haven and thanks to its tourist industry and great winter sports facilities. As such, Andorra makes a superb choice for an exiting family break, group ski trip or romantic getaway.
If you fancy a bit of culture when you’re away from the slopes, Andorra’s architecture is worth a look. Particularly noteworthy are the Church of Sant Juan de Caselles in Andorra la Vella (the country’s Capital and only town), and the main local religious building of Sant Esteve Church, built in the 12th century.
The Casa de la Vall in the Capital also merits a visit. Built in 1580 and originally belonging to a noble family, the building is now the seat of government. Then of course there are the principality’s hotels. Ranging from 2 to 5 star, and including luxury spa options, you’ll find facilities for every taste and budget.
