Can Picafort can be found at the eastern end of the Bay of Alcudia, around 20 kilometres from Alcudia itself and a 60 kilometre (1.5 hour) trip from the island’s airport at Palma. Can Picafort is the coastal resort of the town of Santa Margalida located some 10 kilometres inland.
With the development of tourism since the 1960’s, little remains of the original village apart from the working harbour from where boat trips may be taken. The village does however benefit from a wide car free promenade lined with restaurants and bars, which provides a popular place to stroll in the warm summer evenings. The village has two beaches - both sandy and safe - one of which incorporates a nature reserve and is home to a variety of wildlife.
