A former fishing village in the south of the Canary Island of Tenerife, Los Cristianos was still somewhat of a hamlet until the mid 1950s. Today however, with a host of hotels and apartments, Los Cristianos is an excellent destination for families not wanting the hectic pace that its neighbour Las Americas offers.
The real selling point for Los Cristianos is of course its climate. As with the whole of southern Tenerife, rain is somewhat of a novelty here - making it a Mecca for the sun chaser and those after a healthier lifestyle. It is within close proximity of possibly the best beach on the island too, Playa de Las Vistas, which can be reached from any of the resorts hotels and apartments.
There are many high quality hotels available at the resort, offering all the modern amenities. However, if you prefer to look after yourself and go self-catering, there are several local shops and stores within walking distance of the apartments.
Los Cristianos is the least developed of the southern resorts, and to many this is a benefit. However, recent investment and a focus on refining the resort's image has only but added to its attractions. The apartments Los Cristianos now offers are modern, state of the art facilities, in line with the increasing cosmopolitan clientele attracted to the resort.
With a range of international and local cuisine to tempt even the most discerning of palettes, the resort has many exceptional restaurants. If this doesn't excite the kids, you could of course pop along to the local fast food outlet.
With night time entertainment a little less boisterous than its louder neighbour along the coast, a stay in sunny Los Cristianos will make for that ideal relaxing getaway.
