La Caleta prides itself on still retaining Canarian ways. The restaurants excel at using freshly caught fish and cooking it in the traditional Canarian style. Piscis, Masia del Mar, La Caleta Bar, La Vieja, and El Celso are a few of these popular fish restaurants. Visitors come from across the island to enjoy their epicurean delights. The low key nightlife tends to centre around these restaurants and nearby bars with their local tapas. The relaxed atmosphere means that a typical evening will include a fantastic, leisurely meal followed by people watching or simply gazing over the sea.
Days are often spent on the beach – typically at the local Playa de Las Teresitas as the beach at La Caleta tends to be black shingle. Both beaches cater for families and have the usual amenities. Signed walks are popular. Most of these are along the coast and lead towards Playa de las Americas or to the next resort, Playa del Duque. The more adventurous can walk all the way to Los Cristianos. Some of the walks take in the nearby coves. A few of these act as discreet nudist beaches whilst others are for the more usual (lightly) clothed sun worshippers.
