Beach Bag Essentials

Essential items for a day at the beach

The beach is a great place to spend the day when on holiday, however you do not want to go empty handed. There are some essential items that everyone should have with them to protect them from the elements and stay healthy, along with essential gear to ensure lots of fun is had by all!

First things first you need a big beach bag, you don’t want to have to leave anything essential at home because you couldn’t fit it in the bag. Things to consider when picking the right beach bag for you is that it may get wet and/or dirty during the day – things like sand, wet towels or the old leaky sun cream bottle are all going to play their part.

Beach Bag Essentials

To make the most of your day in the sun, sea and sand these are the necessary items we recommend for your beach bag:

Sunscreen
Suncream

This is a no brainer, you might not mind tan lines, but you do not want to look like a lobster look either and damage your skin. There are many options on the supermarket aisles including sunscreen and sunblock and either one is more a personal choice. The main thing to look at is the SPF which stands for Sun Protection Factor and is a numeric scale which measures the sunscreen’s effectiveness at blocking Ultraviolet B rays which causes sunburns. The higher the SPF number, the higher the protection. Usually it is recommended to apply 30mins before you hit the beach and also, never forget the importance of reapplication throughout the day.

Bottle of Water
Water
This along with the sunscreen or sunblock is most important thing you need for a day at the beach. You need to stay hydrated as dehydration in the heat happens a lot quicker and is extremely dangerous. If you take your own bottle most beaches will have a place nearby to get a quick refill and make sure you have water for the whole day.

Sunglasses

You don’t want to ruin a great day at the beach because you are squinting all day. With such a wide choice of colours and styles available you can also show off a bit of your personality too. A good tip is to get a case for your sunglasses so you can protect them when you not wearing them and that they don’t get crushed in your beach bag.

Beach Towel
Beach Towel

A pretty obvious addition to the list, but have you considered a massive beach towel. Not only will it allow you to put all things on some of the towel area and minimize sand getting in your all your stuff, if anyone forgets their towel you can save the day and share yours if it’s big enough!

Flip flops
Beach Flip Flops

Without a pair of flip flops it just isn’t a day at the beach! Hot sand hurts when you are trying to walk across it with nothing on your feet, plus you don’t exactly look very cool hoping along the sand with your feet are on fire. Flip Flops not only protect you from hot sand but also such hidden dangers in the sand like shell fragments, broken glass and creatures.

Reading Material
Reading on beach

Whether it’s a book, magazine or newspaper there is nothing like reading on the beach. It is actually known that reading is one of the best stress-busters. So why not improve your mind whilst improving the tan?

Fun and Games
Bucket and Spade

No day at the beach would be complete without a bat and ball and the sandcastle supplies. Whether you are a child or adult, a fun game on the beach is great for all ages! Grab the bat and ball, build a sandcastle and find your inner child.

Beach hat

A hat at the beach will help protect your head and face from the sun. From Floppy Hats to Panamas, Baseball Caps to Fedoras the choice is yours.
