The Caribbean new kids on the block
The Caribbean with its stunning sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters and amazing scenery, offers holidays of a lifetime. It is as popular as ever and as such some of the bigger islands are now launching brand new hotels and renovations, so we have decided to round up the best projects to keep an eye on.
The Anguilla tourist board is investing lots of money in tourism and has a new strategy in development. There are quite a few new hotels which are currently being built and are due to open in 2016. Zemi Beach House has been developed by the famous Goldstein Family and sits on one of the Caribbean’s finest sandy beaches. It is due to open in February 2016 and features a private spa retreat, a range of dining options that engages all the senses along with 115 beautifully furnished luxury rooms and suites.
Following a successful first year Sandals Barbados is expanding its St Lawrence gap property to include a new Luxury Resort connected to its current 280 room hotel. It will include 186 new suites and extended spa and entertainment facilities. Another addition to this popular Caribbean island is the all inclusive Sugar Bay Barbados a sister property of Bougainvillea Beach Resort. This new four star property features a steak house, Japanese restaurant, café, a pub and bars and will also feature a garden wedding venue it you are thinking of getting married abroad.
The world famous Karisma Hotels and Resort Group opened the Sensatori Jamaica in Negril last year and want to extend their presence on this wonderful holiday island with construction underway for a new 149 room hotel called Azul Seven. Another new hotel for families has just opened in Montego Bay called the Sunscape Splash, an affordable accommodation, just steps away from the crystal clear Caribbean Sea. Offering an Explorer’s Kids Club for children aged between 3 and 12, daily programs and activities for teenagers aged 13 and above, plus a waterpark with a range of twisting slides and pools that will keep the whole family entertained.
A new hotel; Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya opened in November and sits in the heart of the Riviera Maya in Mexico on the gorgeous sandy beaches of Akumal, rated as one of the “Top 10 Beaches in Mexico” by TripAdvisor®. This adults’ only resort offers guests a charming, picturesque escape and is already a popular choice for luxury Mexico holidays. Another new arrival comes in the shape of the Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa which is due to open in April 2016. Offering its guests exhilarating parties with unlimited premium drinks in trendy bars and lounges, along with unlimited gourmet food at a wide selection of restaurants, plus special themed events, live entertainment and a world class spa. EFM Hospitality are due to launch two new hotels on this tropical paradise island. The Mantra Lodge in Speyside has undergone a complete refurbishment and is due to open in early 2016. This small boutique hotel will offer 22 rooms and is in a great location to explore Tobago’s top scuba diving sites. The second hotel will be the Tobago Great House Resort and Spa which is due to open in autumn 2016. Situated within the 260-acre Grafton Caledonian Wildlife Sanctuary this unique hotel will offer breathe taking views of the Caribbean Sea and the famous Buccoo Reef. The resort will offer 20 tastefully appointed spacious sea view rooms in the Great House along with 36 garden suites overlooking the large lagoon style pool.
