Taba, Egypt Holidays

Taba, a small town near the Gulf of Aqaba, is the northernmost resort of Egypt’s Red Sea Riviera, a long stretch of coastline that also includes the larger resort of Sharm el Sheikh at its southernmost end. Situated close to the border with Israel, Taba is popular with Israeli and European tourists alike. The resort is dominated by the 11 storey Hilton Hotel which houses a popular casino. In recent years the resort development of Taba Heights has grown up 20 kilometres to the south of Taba itself, providing holiday makers with a much wider choice of accommodation including the excellent 5 star Hyatt Regency Taba Heights resort.

Things to do in Taba

As with all of Egypt’s Red Sea resorts, diving is a popular activity. Although perhaps not as exciting a dive area as other locations in the Red Sea, it is much quieter and still offers a great experience both for novices and experienced divers. Snorkelling is also popular with easy access to coral reefs and colourful sea life. There is also a wealth of other outdoor activities available including windsurfing and quad bike trekking. For beach lovers there are miles of glorious sandy beaches and for those wishing to venture “off resort” there are popular day trips into Israel, Mount Sinai and even ferry trips across the Red Sea to Jordan. With summer daytime peak temperatures of over 40 Celsius, Taba is certainly a hot resort - bear this in mind if you’re not a sun worshiper.

Getting to Taba

Taba International Airport is located 35 kilometres north of Taba and is served by a variety of charter carriers. For flight options check our holiday search engine and book your Taba holiday.
